BIM management
BIM manager, BIM lead, BIM coordinator, BIM expert. It is often hard to say where one role ends and the next begins. This is how we see it: when Skiplum is BIM manager, we take charge of BIM as a whole. We identify the client's requirements, map what the project management and the other parties want and can work within, and develop the BIM execution plan the project runs on. Where there are many sub-projects, we can set up a central execution plan or BIM manual and adapt it to each one. In this role, someone else may hold the coordinator job of clash detection and issue follow-up. The manager role sits above that: it makes sure requirements and needs are understood and tied to contracts and schedules, that they are followed up, and that acceptance checks happen when they should. As BIM manager we can follow up many coordinators across projects and sub-projects, and we help set up workflows and automations that add value by raising quality, saving time, and above all reducing the risk that missing information turns a foreseeable problem in a model, drawing or document into a costly one.
